How to successfully downgrade the rage client?

Hey everyone, as the title says, I want to down Rage client to 0.3.7
The issue is that after edditing config.xml to this - <channel>prerelease_1_51_0</channel> and running the updater.exe, after finishing , the updater will actually remove the edit I have added, and it will stil run on the latest version.
How can I bypass that?

0.3.7 is not (and won't be) a thing anymore, why would you want to go back to an old version? It makes no sense.
