Hello everyone,

I’m having a very weird audio issue in GTA V Enhanced when playing via RAGE MP v1.1 .

Problem

  • Audio is strongly left-heavy (most footsteps, vehicle sounds, ambience are much louder on the left ear).

  • Positional audio is wrong / inverted: sounds that should be behind me sometimes play as if they are in front (and vice versa). Some sources feel mirrored or incorrectly placed.

  • This affects everything, including:

    • RAGE MP voice chat

    • footsteps

    • cars / engine sounds

    • ambient sounds / effects

  • Some sounds feel mono-ish, others are stereo but positioned incorrectly.

Important comparison

  • In GTA V Enhanced Story Mode, stereo and positioning are correct.

  • In GTA V Legacy (RAGE MP Legacy / GTA Legacy), audio works perfectly on the same PC.

System / setup

  • Windows 11

  • Playing on GTA5RP server with the latest RAGE MP 1.1

  • I use an audio interface with normal stereo headphones (no surround headset).

  • Only one playback device and one recording device are enabled in Windows, so they are automatically the Default device and Default communication device.

  • Playback + Recording are both set to 48 kHz / 24-bit (so there should be no sample-rate mismatch).

What I already tried (no change)

  • Reinstalled RAGE MP completely

  • Tested different headphones (AUX, Bluetooth)

  • Tested headphones via motherboard audio instead of the audio interface (no change)

  • Set Playback + Recording devices to 48 kHz / 24-bit and ensured no 44.1/48 mismatch

  • Disabled Windows audio enhancements / spatial features (and also tried enabling Windows Sonic as a test — it can slightly “mask” the issue but does not truly fix positional audio)

  • Verified that the active devices are set as default + communication devices

  • Set "Audio3d" in settings.xml to true/false

Is this a known issue with RAGE MP + GTA V Enhanced on Windows 11?
Are there any client settings, config files, or known workarounds (especially for the listener orientation / positional audio) that I can try?

If needed, I can provide:

  • short video/audio clip demonstrating the inverted front/back positioning

  • dxdiag

  • RAGE MP logs

Thanks a lot!
