Hi there,

I realise that this is out of scope of RAGE mp but I would like to use RAGE MP via WINE on Linux.

GTA V runs smoothly on Linux via WINE/DXVK.

I have managed to get rage mp installed under my GTAV wine prefix.

When I run "ragemp_v.exe" I get "FATAL ERROR: Could not start RAGE Multiplayer". No surprise there, I did not expect it work.

WINEPREFIX=/PATH/TO/GTAPREFIX/ winetricks install dotnet462 dotnet472 vcrun2015
mkdir /PATH/TO/GTAPREFIX/RAGEMP/
cd /PATH/TO/GTAPREFIX/RAGEMP/
wget http://cdn.rage.mp/client/updater.exe
wget http://cdn.rage.mp/client/ragemp-web-installer.exe

Has any one managed to progress any further?

Does RAGEMP make use of shared resources like FIVEM? Because that is not supported by DXVK yet.

Kind Regards.

Same Error on my system using Manjaro 18.0.2 using Mesa, Lutris with winesteam and dxvk 1.0.

About the shared resources, there is currently no way to implement it because wine does not support it. Doitsujin labeled it as "wontfix" ->  https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/899

I am not sure that ragemp makes that API call. Hopefully not.

So.. anyone run Rage on Linux?

It is really a hit or miss, sometimes I can get the server browser open up and when launching the game I get "Path not found" and right after that Rockstar launcher throws me an error to verify game files but the game itself is working fine so not sure why is that also rage uses EOS version of EAC so that is also a roadblocker.

If someone knows what .dlls rage loads when it tries to launch the game then I can look into it farther and figure out why it throws an error, it is possible Wine expects the .dlls to be in the same folder.

Edit: Are there also logs that are not CEF related, maybe I can find more clues there.

Hello, I want to continue this topic a year later, I plan to try to enter the GTA 5 server from ragemp on Ubuntu in the near future. Someone has tried to set it up for all this time.

I'm able to open the server browser every time via wine, I just can't get the game to start... You can see it open a terminal window but then it keeps spinning `Launching the game` without any luck.

Hopefully someone cracks this so we can play our games on Linux.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enable dot files in winecfg, in the drives tab

2. Run the installer and install it in the GTA V directory

3. Navigate to the directory in the terminal

4. Run wine update.exe
